Hair Replacement Systems

Choosing a Bonding Method For Hair Replacement

The best bonding method in non-surgical hair replacement is different for every individual. Factors such as the hairstyle u desire, and the base you choose, determine which one would be suitable for you. It is possible to change the method of attachment on your next visit in case you aren’t happy with the one you’ve tried.

Once you’ve decided to bond the hair system with tape or glue, we suggest you shave the entire area where the hair replacement system will be attached. The advantages of this are:
Helps to create a more stronger and secure bond.
The hair underneath the hair system continues to grow. Hence, shaving prevents irritation.
Shaving the area creates a smooth surface to attach your system, so the bond remains intact.

Your Option Bonding

There are a number of options available for bonding a hair patch to your scalp.
Using tape to bond the hair system.
Using liquid glue.
Using a combination of tape and liquid adhesive for a stronger hold.

The method you choose will depend on your skin sensitivity, or if you have very oily skin, as adhesives work differently on different skin. It’s mainly through trial and error that one is able to make a final decision.

Using tape to bond the hair system

Using Tape to bond the hair

Make sure that you never use tape if your hair toupee has an ultra-thin base. When the base fabric is delicate, the tape can cause the fabric to tear during servicing. In addition, using tape means that the base appears slightly thicker, which defeats the purpose of using ultra-thin base material.

Pros:
Easy to apply
Easy to remove
Quicker prep time
Easy to remove its residue from the scalp

Cons:

Can be detected sometimes from the edges
Tapes used for lighter-density patches can show through
Does not always create an undetectable hairline

Using Liquid Adhesive or Glue for bonding

Pros:

Easier to do the attachment in some cases.
Gives a perfectly undetectable hairline.
Does not show through the hair patch.
Cannot be detected when using an ultra-thin base.
Easy to do a touchup for the front hairline, between attachments.

Cons:

Longer prep time.
Can turn white if you sweat too much and seep through the lace.
It can take time to remove the residue from the scalp.

Combination of tape and glue for bonding

A combination of tape and liquid adhesive is generally used when either one is not enough to hold the bond. Or, when using standard skin bases, not lace bases, a combination may be used, where the tape is used only around the perimeter of the base.
